Keshiki Square Vase

Regular price £180.00 Sale

To create the Keshiki Square Vase, Yukiyasu Azuma makes a mould of layered bricks and blows the glass into them creating a square shape. This technique is quite unique, as wood and metal moulds are typically used for glass blowing. The artist likes his technique because it allows him to more easily change the size and shape of the mould. Keshiki in Japanese means scenery, and the artist aims to create a depth of expressions (scenery) with a small number of colours, typically using just two colours, or a maximum of three. Azuma creates his pieces in his studio in the Shiga prefecture, to the East of Kyoto.
