Japanese Glass | Takeyoshi Mitsui
Takeyoshi Mitsui was born in Hiroshima and studied glass making at Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts in Okayama prefecture. After completed his master course there, he has moved to Toyama to work at Toyama Glass Studio as a staff for four years and became an independent artist in 2016. In the same year he joined the glass artists exchanging programme between Toyama and Canberra Glassworks in Australia, had a solo exhibition first time in abroad.
‘I just loved PE and arts and crafts lessons when I was little’, Mitsui looks back. ‘Glass making has just combined those two. It is very much physical as well as arts and crafts. It is perfect for me’.
