Motozo Honmura combined kiln casting with oil painting to create this piece. Glass is melted in an electric furnace heated at 850℃ and then poured into a mould. The glass takes several days to cool before it is removed from the mould, revealing its colours. It is then painted on the surface with oil paint until it matches the image that the artist had envisioned.

The artist explains that the theme of this piece is the "coexistence of nature and human in the motif of a city that symbolises civilisation, and a mighty tree which surrounds it".
